Personal Experience
She is conversational in Spanish and is actively working towards Fluency. Anna has experience in a variety of immigration matters including adjustment of status, family petitions, special immigrant juvenile visas, naturalization, and U Visas. She knows that every family’s situation is different and values the novelty of each situation and works to ensure their individuality is reflected in their applications.Anna was born and raised in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Between riding horses and playing soccer, Anna developed her sense of justice through her exposure to people in all walks of life and felt a calling to save the world. During high school and throughout her undergraduate career, Anna worked at YMCA Camp Hanes (https://ymcanwnc.org/locations/ymca-camp-hanes) as the Head Wrangler of the equestrian program where she taught campers how to reach a mutual understanding with horses that could be ten times their size.Anna attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree for her double major: Political Science and Peace, War, and Defense; and her minor in Social and Economic Justice. Throughout her attendance at UNC Chapel Hill, Anna was part of the Marching Tar Heels drumline where she learned how to march and play cymbals without having any prior experience. She took her love of riding horses to college with her and was a member of the Equestrian Team; where she placed second in Regionals and fourth in Zones.After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill, Anna took a gap year to live on a horse farm in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where she worked part-time while also interning with the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission (https://innocencecommission-nc.gov/) in Cary, North Carolina. As an intern, Anna helped the commission prepare for and host the commission hearing for State v. Bryant, Cauthen, Tolliver, and Banner. (https://innocencecommission-nc.gov/cases/state-v-bryant/). These convictions were recently overturned by a trial judge: https://apnews.com/article/chris-paul-grandfather-death-nathaniel-jones-case-761642a5d4f1fb50e69a49035b0b9e6f. Anna then attended Elon University School of Law where she attained her Juris Doctor. During her studies, she worked at the Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic (https://www.elon.edu/u/law/academics/experiential/our-clinics/immigration/) and solidified her motivation to work in immigration law. During her time off, Anna enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, and spending with her friends and her cats.
